"The arms race for money that drives our campaigns threatens the concept of one person, one vote."
May 23rd - Citizens United Lobby Day
A government “of, by and for the people” is the most basic promise of American democracy ─
but, in 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling eroded this promise by deciding it is unconstitutional to limit the amount of money that corporations and trade unions can spend to tell people to elect or defeat specific candidates.
Today, in the aftermath of the 2010 election, North Carolina has see first hand how corporation and big donors use the political system to get richer at your expense. Tired of special interests having their voice heard over yours? What to enact real lasting change in North Carolina?
Then join us at the Citizens United Lobby Day - May 23rd in Raleigh. We will be joining the People of Color Lobby Day then meeting with legislators about why we need to overturn Citizens United.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call (919) 371-VOTE.
